The Washington Group's network of specialists work with each financial representative to ensure that each client is provided a comprehensive solution to their financial security. Richard Cafeo JrRetirement Plan Service Representative Rick Cafeo is the Director, Retirement Plan Services for The Washington Group. In this role, Rick is responsible for new business development and providing support to Financial Representatives and their clients who seek retirement plan advisory services for their organization. Rick brings over 15 years of retirement plan industry experience in business development and consulting. Most recently, Rick spent 12 years at Fidelity Investments, and played a significant role in managing and developing Fidelity’s retirement business in both corporate and non-profit markets. Rick graduated from Saint Joseph’s College with a B.B.A in Finance, and holds FINRA securities licenses.
Outside the office, Rick enjoys coaching Little League baseball and resides in Alexandria, VA with his wife Kari, and two sons Kyle and Kevin.
Mesa LewchalermwongDirector of Client Relations As the Director of Client Relations, Mesa is responsible for handling client affairs and insuring that each client has a positive experience with Northwestern Mutual. Mesa takes pride in helping clients in their path toward financial security. Prior to joining the Washington Group, Mesa was the Associate Director of Client Relations for the Worrell Agency in Charlotte, NC. There, she was responsible for matching clients with suitable representatives to help ensure their needs are taken care of.
Mesa graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Health Care Management. She resides in Montgomery County, MD. Katherine Oser, CLU®, ChFC®, CLTC, CASLLong Term Care Specialist Katherine has beena Northwestern Mutual Financial Advisor for 23 years and is the Long Term Care Specialist for The Washington Group in the McLean, Virginia office. She is a qualifying and life member of MDRT. Katherine has her MA in History from Baylor University and a BA in American Studies from Smith College. Katherine lives in Arlington VA with her husband Ralph and Australian Cattle dog Maggy. Bob Quinn, CLU®, CLTCDisability Income Specialist Bob Quinn is the Disability Income Specialist for The Washington Group. Bob graduated from George Mason University with a B.S. in business administration. He has his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation and is also a member of the following groups: Bethesda Kiwanis Club as Past President, Bethesda Kiwanis Foundation as Past President, 1999 Graduate Leadership Montgomery, and also a member of Rebuilding Together in Montgomery County. He resides in Kensington, Maryland, with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two sons, Sean and Thomas. Kurt Rupprecht, CFP®, CLU®, CLTCDisability Insurance Specialist Kurt Rupprecht is our Disability Insurance Specialist as well as Managing Director of our DC Office. As Managing Director of the DC Financial Group, Kurt is responsible for the development of new financial representatives in The Washington Group's newest district office. Kurt joined Northwestern Mutual in 2004 and quickly rose through the ranks of leadership to Managing Director in 2008. In his personal practice, Kurt focuses on working with a variety of individual professionals and business owners in the DC metro area, helping them efficiently structure their investment and insurance programs to compliment their near and long term objectives. Kurt’s credentials include the CFP®, CLU®, and CLTC certifications.
Born in San Jose, Costa Rica into a Foreign Service family, Kurt spent the majority of his life through adolescence residing in Central and South America. Upon completion of high school in Guatemala City, he attended the University of Virginia graduating with a major in Economics and a minor in Foreign Affairs. Kurt currently lives in Old town Alexandria with his wife, Cameron, where they enjoy taking advantage of the culinary and historic attractions. Ted ShanahanInvestment Specialist Ted is the Investment Specialist at The Washington Group. He joined Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in 1982 after working at Merrill Lynch. He graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in economics. He later received his M.B.A. from Chaminade University. He was also a former Infantry Officer in the United States Army. In his spare time he likes to coach soccer, play tennis and ski. Ted resides in Oak Hill, Virginia, with his wife, Brenda, and two children, Teddy and Christine. Stephanie SpringerEmployee Benefit Specialist Stephanie has been the Director of Employee Benefits since 2001 for The Washington Agency, Northwestern Group Marketing Services, Inc., and she has 13 years of experience in the Employee Benefits field representing major group insurance carriers and administrators. The Washington Agency, Northwestern Group Marketing Services, Inc. participates in Strategic Employee Benefit Services, a nationwide group marketing program providing specialized services in the employee benefit arena exclusively through Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. Stephanie provides assistance on group insurance issues to businesses of all sizes, in many industries. Her specialties include complex self-funding mechanisms, cafeteria plans and many cost-containment techniques. In the seven years Stephanie has been Director, the department has placed in the top ten in the country two times and top three in the Eastern Region three times. Ryan Stille, CLU®, LUTCFLife Insurance Specialist Ryan is the Life Insurance Specialist at The Washington Group. He joined The Washington Group in 1996 after graduating from Virginia Tech in 1995 with a B.S. in Communications. Ryan received his Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) in 2000 and then Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from The American College in 2007. He is a Million Dollar Round Table qualifying member and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Ryan was on the Host Committee for The Children’s Ball from 2006-2010 and is also a board member of the Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation. He is a native of Northern Virginia and currently resides in Oakton with his wife Rebecca and three sons, Carson, Parker and Max.
